Metaluna special at l’Etrange Festival !

The team of l’Etrange Festival in Lyon (France), informs us that a slot of the festival will be fully dedicated to Metaluna Productions, which makes us very happy. On top of the documentary “Marvel 14 : Super heroes vs. censorship” (the 52mns version, that will be followed by a panel with the co-directors Philippe Roure & Jean Depelley, as well as Claude Vistel notably), will be screened the short film Dolorosa by Christophe Debacq, and the teaser for The Broken Imago by Douglas Buck.

All this will take place at the Comoedia cinema in Lyon on april 3rd, 2010.

Metaluna productions is proud to announce the avant-première screening of the 52 minutes version of the documentary “Marvel 14: super-heroes vs. censorship” at the Etrange Festival of Lyon (France). The Festival will take place at the Comoedia theater between march 31st and April 6th.

Miss Claude Vistel, of the “éditions Lug”, as well as Philippe Roure and Jean Depelley (directors) and Raphaël Colson (writer, editor / Les Moutons Electriques) will be there for a debate right after the documentary’s projection.

Metaluna Productions is proud to announce that the documentary about the French comics Marvel, it’s mythic issue #14 and the censorship in France after World War 2, titled “Marvel 14: Super-Heroes vs. Censorship”, directed by Philippe Roure and Jean Depelley, will be screened at the International Comics Festival of Angoulème, France. Here is the schedule:

January 28th, 1:30 PM
January 29th, 2:00 PM
January 30th, 10:30 AM
January 31st, 12:00 AM

All screenings will take place the Odéan hall of the Theater. Both directors and the Metaluna Productions’ staff will be available during all screenings.

The French Webzine dedicated to all kinds of “genre” cinema, Sci-Fi Universe, conducted an interview with Jean Depelley and Philippe Roure after the screening of the 26″ version of their documentary “Marvel 14: les super-héros contre la censure” (”Marvel 14: super heroes vs. censorship”). In addition to the production of the short film “M14″ by Philippe Roure, Metaluna Productions is currently producing a documentary entitled “Sur la piste du Marvel 14″ (”On the path of Marvel 14″) that follows the real story behind this legendary issue #14 of the french magazine Marvel.

This comic book, expected by thousands of fans, was supposed to come out in march 1971. But the french censorship banned the mag’ for its violence and pro capitalistic tones (the american superheroes were considered by the french communists as a propaganda tool and by the ultra catholica right wing as an apology for violence) and Marvel 14 never came out. For sure the master was created, but a big mystery surrounds this issue. Was it printed ? Did it come out in some remote places ? Were the copies burnt or destroyed before being printed ? Will “Sur la piste du Marvel 14″ be able to tell you the truth about this mythical mag’ ?

Stay tuned until the documentary gets released, in complement to the short fiction “M14″! The documentary is co-directed by Philippe Roure & Jean Depelley. It is currently being filmed.

“The broken imago” teaser

The teaser for “The Broken Imago” will be ready by the end of august, and a series of professionnal screenings will be organized in New York (USA), Montreal (CA), Los Angeles (USA), Paris (FR) and Buenos Aires (AR), before the teaser to be put online on our Web site, and then on selected partners’ ones.

On other projects, Metaluna’s screenwriter, Jean Depelley, is currently remodeling the script for “The Entombed”. Metaluna Productions is also interested in a french short film project, more news about this early september.

“Dying God” DVD released!

“Dying God” came out today on DVD in France, through French editor Neo Publishing. The dvd cover art is very different from our pre-release poster, but we had no control on it, which does not mean we don’t like it.

The zone 2 DVD includes the film in English with French subtitles and a bunch of extra features as follows :

audio commentary by director Fabrice Lambot, producer Jean-Pierrer Putters and co screenwriter Jean Depelley
“Kurupi” a relaxed video interview with Fabrice, Jean-Pierre and Jean including excerpts from the film
