toutes les nuits

synopsis
”You naturally go through one or the other suffering, becoming a man or a cadaver, for there are two manners to die and the worst is growing as an adult.”(Hubert Haddad)
Emily Straube is going to turn 18 in a few days. She’s been living in the woods of Laverna with her grandfather, Vincent, since the assassination of her mother, about 10 years ago now. Torn between dependence and disgust, they cannot bear each other anymore even though they are unable to break up. Vincent wishes she would stay a little more, just the time he needs to finish his latest book. But Emily has sworn to herself not to become an adult in this shack, with his grandfather, this asphyxiating paternal figure, as her only company. She has then decided to scaffold an “escape plan” with her local friends: to steal her grandfather’s treasure simulating a burglary and then run away to town! Unfortunately, this night, nothing will happen as expected. When a lost stranger with his nine-year old girl burst into the house begging for help, it will revive the ruins of the past and the secret the young woman has been letting grow deep inside her. The awakening of this latent rage in Emily’s belly will then slowly contaminate the surrounding woods, stirring up the storm and the wrath of elements. Thereby the maiden’s symbiotic relationship with nature will engender her metamorphosis: from her spirit to her flesh, Emily’s becoming wilder, more animal. She’s becoming an adult, A woman. Then, in a dense forest infested with wolves, Emily will struggle to end up with her nightmare…The same dream of every night.
